Les Papillons Look #1 - Warm & Bright

Saturday, October 3, 2009
I finally got my Les Papillon samples in today and I was so excited, I couldn't wait to do a look! There are so many beautiful colors to choose from, especially for the warm loving gals out there. I guess I'll be reviewing the colors as I do the looks on them, so, yeah :D Look for that!
What I used:
-Aromaleigh Les Papillons in Spread Your Wings- The gentle earthy orange of the Monarch Butterfly, but rich with metallic splendor, vivid color and sparks of pure silver
-Aromeleigh Les Papillons in Golden Chrysalis- A truly unique muted organic gold with amazing dimensional spirit. Shimmer of golden red lustrous metallic honeyed gold and sparks of violet interplay
-Aromaleigh Les Papillons in Crimson Mimicry- Rich frosted metallic smooth true red with sparks of coral, red and gold shining in the sunlight
-Aromaleigh Les Papillons in Flying Flower- A joyful cool frosted pink with soft violet highlight and sparkles of copper, Silvery metallic heart
-Idelible Nude Frost creme shadow
-Aromaleigh Rocks! Sonic Rouge in femmefatale- clear vivid watermelon shade
-Fyrinnae lip lustre in Very Berry Happy- a semi-sheer "milky" pink shimmer

I couldn't WAIT to try Spread Your Wings, as the lovely and talented Nea from Fashioned in Finland said it would be perfect for me :D I basically built the look around that color. Orange is hard to use, I think, but I love it. You have to be careful, it can look weird with black or brown! Nude Frost as base. Golden Chrysalis in inner vee and brow highlight. Spread Your Wings in middle of lid. Zero as liner. Crimson Mimicry over liner (this turned it a bit more purple than red, but still pretty). Flying Flower in crease and into inner vee.

My thoughts?

Spread Your Wings- Amazing! Gorgeous, pretty, lush orange. Not for everyone though...You gotta watch your coloring with this one!

Golden Chrysalis- Eh, not my favorite. It was a bit darker than I expected and has a pretty yellow base (more than gold, but this just might be in my skin). I think this would look better on a darker skinned gal!

Crimson Mimicry- Another gorgeous choice! I love me some deep red shadows. It did turn more purple on top of the black liner, but I also swatched it on my hand too and it was a true, deep metallic red. The sparkles in this one are fabulous and show up very well!

Flying Flower- My favorite so far! It's much brighter in person and gives a lovely glow! The violet undertones and copper sparks are very evident, yet it manages to be soft and not over the top. I could see this looking very pretty on many different skintones! It looks warm against the orange shadow, but alone looks very cool.

Anyhoo, getting ready to go out with my sister in law and check out a new mexican restaurant! Going to play Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, an old favorite of mine!! Jayne is also going to fix my hair a bit, Gus ate some more. Although, I was turning his upside so it looked like he was flying XD so it's really my fault. At least this time its hidden inside, so it's not too bad. Silly Gus Bus, he loves his mama so much! (He's so CUTE! Must post another picture!)

Have a GREAT weekend, girlies!!!

The Cyanide You Drank EotD + Barbie Lips!

Friday, October 2, 2009

What I wore:
-Hi Fi cosmetics The Cyanide You Drank- a vivid acid green with golden sheen and plenty of sparkle
-Aromaleigh Satin Petals Frost in Coriander- a cool muted green with a satin white highlight
-Allure by Jen Coven eyeliner- black with green sparks
-UD 24/7 liner in Zero- black
-Allure by Jen blush in Satin- a beautiful pink color with light purple undertones
-NYX lipstick in Strawberry Milk- light baby pink
-Fyrinnae lip lustre in Very Berry Happy- a semi-sheer "milky" pink shimmer
Um this look was pretty random...basically I just kept piling crap on :P The pink lips were silly, I didn't actually wear them out! Everyone talks about how NYX Strawberry Milk is this awesome nude pink color and perfect on everyone...Yeah, not on me!

Coriander as base. The Cyanide You Drank in crease (this was slightly faded from putting it on top of Coriander...believe me, its much brighter on its own!). Zero as liner with Coven on top. Coven in outer vee (you can see the green sparkles much better in person).

I tried out Allure by Jen's Satin blush...Oh, why must every single blush I try from her be amazing?? It didn't show up great in the pictures but its a soft rosy pink with a little bit of a lavender undertone and it's beautiful! A very interesting blush color that manages to look natural but still unusual! <3>

So girls, do you rock the Barbie pink lips? Haha, I bet you look better then me!!

Super Fun Lipgloss Swap!

Thursday, October 1, 2009

One of my absolute fave bloggers, Kelli, is hosting a lip gloss swap! I haven't swapped in awhile (swaplifted 3 times!), but I think its super fun to get treats in the mail and to know that you are brightening someone's day!

This is such a cute idea, Kelli will team you up with another blogger and you will email eachother and send around the same time and recieve at the same time.

Here are the rules & regulations:

The LGS (lip gloss swap) will be
open for entries until October 15th! This gives us a good two weeks to spread
the word & get plenty of swappers involved! Please use the banner @ the
bottom of this entry to link this post on your blog!

1. If you would
like to participate - please comment on this post with your e-mail address.
Please - US Mailing addresses only! I will contact everyone once the deadline
for entries has ended & send you your partner's e-mail address so you can
exchange mailing information. Please be sure that you actively check your
e-mail!

2. If you leave me your e-mail address, you are agreeing to
participate in the swap! You are taking responsibility, so please be sure you
are able to FULLY PARTICIPATE!

3. Lip Glosses should be in a price range
of $5 - $15.. Whether or not you choose to get your partner a 'set of glosses'

a unique brand! Buy your partner something really fun :o)

Etsy Crack: Mum Mum's Craft's Mineral Makeup Line (Super Pic Heavy!)

Lately I've been really coveting some good matte shadows. As any addict knows, a great matte loose piggy is an elusive one...I think of them as the "rare white tigers" of my collection :P I'm always on the lookout for mineral lines that include matte shadows!

So, when I first saw Mum Mum's Velvet line, I squealed a little. With a variety of 15 colors that range from Salsa hot red to bright Turquoise to a variety of warm and cool neutrals...I HAD to try these!

Onto the review, then, yes? Here are some swatches:
This last one is a really crappy pic...it's blurry but accurate!! Color Descriptions & My Thoughts=

-Ice crystal - like a sparkling piece of ice in the sun! It looks white, but don't be fooled! Once you rub it on it shifts from silvery green to a silvery red to a golden green, depending on the lighting! (f*ing awesome as a lipcolor…I put on a clear lip balm and dabbed Ice Crystal in the middle and in the cupids bow. Cute perfection! I also used it in the middle of Coral Flush for a sweet shimmery pout!)

-Puff pink- soft pink matte, not lip safe (contains ultramarines, a great highlighting shade!)

-3-in-1 Coral Flush- coral (gorgeous! Reminds me of Too Faced Papa Don't Peach except not as oh-em-gee shimmery)

-Wisteria- a lighter/mid-toned purple that will absolutely make green eyes shine (must have color…I couldn't believe this was so pretty! Very neutral purple, not too much red or blue!)

-Ewa Beach -teal ocean blue-green color (buildable in a GOOD way…One swipe is a gorgeous greenish teal…more makes it BRIGHT, HOT teal!)

-Fudge-rich gorgeous brown (slightly warm but not OVERLY so. Very pigmented!!! That swatch is ONE SWIPE!)

-Swiss Chocolate-Beautiful rich chocolate brown with lots of shimmer (Gorgeous! I love this color…Perfectly pigmented, the golden shimmer is shot through a cool-ish deep brown. I could see this looking gorgeous on any skin tone!)

Overall, I had a great time with Mum Mum's Crafts! FABULOUS colors, I can't wait to try out more of the Velvet collection. Application is luscious and smooth, lasting power is on average with most minerals (you gotta use a base, but we all know that!). Not everything is vegan, but each listing says whether or not it contains carmine! Also, each listing shows if a shadow is lip safe or not! Oh, and the blendability (is that a word? lol) of the mattes is perfect! A lot of mattes can be somewhat hard to blend, but not these!

On the personable side of things...Shipping? Lightning fast! Customer Service? Lucy was a total sweetheart, answered all of my dumb questions! Extra Goodies/Nice Packaging? Yes and Yes!

And now onto a FotD!What I used:

-Mum Mum's Crafts Wisteria, Ewa Beach, Swiss Chocolate, Puff Pink, Coral Flush, Ice Crystal

-UD 24/7 liner in Underground- metallic taupe

-Aromaleigh Aromatherapy lip balm in Cremesicle Delight (yummies!) - Sweet orange oil is blended with Vanilla Bourbon absolute to put a natural spin on this perfect childhood favorite...

Puff Pink as base. Underground as liner with Swiss Chocolate on top and slightly into crease. Ewa Beach in middle of lid over SC (doesn't it look cool layered on the brown? Never thought of doing that before but I love!) . Wisteria in inner vee. Coral Flush as blush and on top of Cremesicle lipbalm. Ice Crystal in middle of lower lip and cupids bow (see closeup above)This picture is redonk, right? I look like a sad panda! Honestly I got 2 hours of sleep last night and put this on before class. I was NOT happy to be awake! My eyes look badass though, right? I totally accentuated my undereye circles :D

So have you tried Mum Mum's Crafts at Etsy yet? If you like 3-in-1s or matte shadows, I say WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! Oh yeah, you were waiting for me to tell you about it XD Order up girlies! (And no, I was not paid for this infomercial lol). You can try any 3 samples for $3 or 5 samples for $5! She also has handmade soaps for us sensitive skin girls and boys (why do redheads have the worst skin?) that I can't wait to try! Plus, when I looked at the site again, I also feel compelled to buy Bubblegum 3-in-1...how can I resist the cute?

Aromaleigh Mireille Look & Some Fun Tags!

Wednesday, September 30, 2009
What I used:
-Aromaleigh Bete Noire in Mireille- Scrumptious cool purple with pink and coppery sparks
-Aromaleigh Eye Lustre in Circe- mid toned shimmer of cappucino with smoky lowlight and coppery rose highlight
-Orglamix Sesame- midtone shimmery grey with a slight brownish tone
-Indelible Nude Frost
-Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero
-Aromaleigh Rocks! Sonice Rouge in femmefatale- clear vivid watermelon shade
-Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita Nourishing Color Creme in Sweet Tart- Warm mauve pearl
This pic is right after I got stuck in a downpour so...um...not that cute! I was like "damn, I didn't even take a picture yet!" Also, my lippy was off from the 4 cups of coffee I drink to be able to function in class. So, yeah, believe me...This looks a lot better in the morning! (Plus, see how PURPLE the inner part of my eye is?? By my nose?? That is exactly why I love Allure by Jen Iced Peach...it totally makes that go away!)
.
Anyways! This is using Nude Frost as base. Circe in inner vee. Sesame (which is gorgeous btw, I'm pissed I didn't get a better pic) on outer 2/3rds of lid. Zero as liner and Mireille on top.
.
Now onto some fun tags!! Thanks to the gorgeous and oh-so-darling Shop n' Chomp for these! The Gorgeous Blogger award asks you to name 6 things about yourself. I made mine about tattoos <3 Here goes:
.
1. I have had 19 piercings and 11 tattoos...and I am SCARED TO DEATH of needles.
.
2. I was 16 when I got my first tattoo, the original Amy Brown bubble fairy.
.
3. I have only one random, picked off the wall, spur of the moment tattoo...It's a heart with spiderwebs and arrows...It reminds me of old men :P
.
4. (Not really about me, but a funny story) My dad got a tattoo of my mom's name in a heart when they first got married...10 years after the divorce he got it covered up with our dog Coty's face after she died...Yeah, my mom was mad. We all thought it was hilarious.
.
5. A month before I got married, I got our wedding date in roman numerals tattooed on my ribs (ouch...don't ever do that). A month later during my honeymoon, my husband asks me if I knew the date was wrong. I didn't. (You try not being completely out of it and so nervous that you just say "yeah that looks fine" when you're alone and some dude is pressing into your rib cage with giant ass needles!) So, a little while later Rob gets our wedding date tattooed and also gets the date wrong so I wouldn't feel bad. The artist messed up ANOTHER part of the date. I have December 21, 2008 and he has December 21, 2007. We were actually married on December 12, 2008. And no, we won't ever go to those people again and no, they are not fixable.
.
6. I joked with my best friend about getting bows tattooed on my ankles for a couple years. One day, my husband and I went to visit the shop to see our friend. Bill freakin Hughes was there (a really awesome and talented artist). He said he would tattoo me for cheap as a wedding gift. I couldn't think of anything on the spot so I just blurted out "bows". Kristin laughs every time she sees me :D

The next tag I got was from Black Nailpolish and Lipgloss and Bleeding Beauty! What happens is someone pics a color, then you have to find 7 items in that color and photograph them. Easy, right? Uh...not really! The colors picked were red (from BNaL) and blue (from BB)...I ended up doing red because I love this purse, but it took me forever to find anything else! If only it was like, black or purple. I've got those colors DOWN. 1. One of my favorite bags...Luxe de Ville Kisslock in red patent vinyl with leopard print bottom (!!) and anchor charms
2. Manic Panic Wildfire dye
3. NYX lipstick in Femme
4. Some bright red tights I wore one time and will probably never wear again
5. A Mr. Strawberry pin I made that looks like Doug from that old cartoon
6. Pure Luxe shadow in Fruit Punch
7. A random giant plastic heart charm on the floor (??)
.
I tag anyone who wants to do this! I thought it was pretty fun! I pick Purple, of course! Linky if you do this!!
.
Oh and I got my Love Cherries necklace from Running with Scissors!! I couldn't wait for the hubs to do it...He's one of those "last minute" guys :P I also got a few other goodies from her, I can't wait to share!!

Etsy Crack: Running with Scissors Accessories

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

A girl after my own heart! Running with Scissors is an Etsy shop ran by a punk rock stay at home mommy. She creates "unique punk rock stuff" that are truly tiny works of art!
.
The two cuties you see above are pieces that I own and love. I tried to take a pic of me wearing the necklace, but it was all boobs (oops!) so I'm not gonna post that XD Both of the pieces are super high quality for great prices. The bracelet was $5 and the necklace was $8. I've been wearing both nonstop for the past couple days & have gotten so many compliments!
.
The accessories range from obscene (the many 'fuck love' resin pieces) to total kawaii (ahem please see above!) to mommy punk (tattooed mom resin!).
How amazing is this?? I love the detail...even the skull has eyelashes! You can find it here for $22!
The Love Cherries necklace is my absolute favorite. I'm hoping my husband will get it for me for our anniversary!! December 12th will be one year :D Hopefully it won't be sold by then! The bows...the hearts...the glitter... the cherries... It's SO me! (Weird how I have cherries, hearts and bows tattooed on me...if only I could get glitter!)
.
Anyhoo, I just wanted to share one of my new favorite, sparkly finds with you!
.
All the gorgeous pics above are taken from the Running with Scissors Etsy website...cause you girls all know how bad I am at taking pictures!

Cupcake Inspired EotD

Monday, September 28, 2009
What I used:
-Allure by Jen Iced Peach shadow- delightful mixture of peach, pink, and shimmer
-Aromaleigh Elemental Lustre in Startle- silvery tone with gold highlight
-Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita in Gilded Jealousy- a lusciously intense pearlized khaki green
-Orglamix Skyline- blue purple shimmer
-Fyrinnae Glow Blush in Charm- Bright, feminine pink with a slight lavender hue and touch of shimmerThis is some of the stuff I made on Sunday :D I really love the Pandapple...He turned out pretty amazing! Some will be for the giveaway and some up in my Etsy shop! The cute lil cupcake pin is what inspired my look! This look was fun! I'm not sure I actually went anywhere...well, grocery shopping? Yay for looking like a cupcake at the grocery store!
.
I tried out the Glow blush from Fyrinnae for the first time here. (I've had it for probably close to 6 months!). I really loved it...not a natural look! I like how it is sort of a cooler baby pink and I only needed a pinch to get the flush. It lasted all day too, even after the rest of my makeup came off! I want to get my paws on some more Fyrinnae blushes...Enchant (bright peach), Seduce (lilac) and Mesmerize (berry with NO brown! yay!).
.
Has anyone ever had something sit unused, untried in their kit for MONTHS at a time and then finally try it and love it? Thats how I feel!

Polka Dots and Glitter <3

Look #1 is what I wore Saturday night and Look #2 is Saturday during the day. I took a nap...my makeup came off :D
.
What I used:
-My Beauty Addiction Black Cherry- no description...see note below!
-My Beauty Addiction Aruba- light warm coral/pink with a HIGH shimmer
-Aromaleigh Pure Hue in Magic Wand- iridescent fine shimmer with subtle lavender glow
-Allure by Jen Iced Peach shadow- delightful mixture of peach, pink, and shimmer
-Urban Decay Heavy Metal Liner in Midnight Cowboy- beige glitter
-Avon Colortrend liquid eyeliner brights in Sparkling Black
-Aromaleigh Nourishing Color Creme Gothic Lolita in Creampuff- pale champagne pearl
-Orglamix blush in All Spice- toasted rose

This was my first time wearing My Beauty Addiction shadows. Aruba was fine, it went on nicely. Black Cherry, on the other hand, turned very odd on me...From the pictures on the website, I figured it to be a dark purple burgandy color. In real life, it is a tinge lighter in the bag then I put it on and its basically a very warm sheer brown. Then when I blended it, it pretty much disappeared. These are the only 2 shadows I've used so far, but I was deeply disappointed in Black Cherry. I ended up putting Magic Wand over it just to cool it down a bit! You girls KNOW how horribly disappointed I get when the shadow I order doesn't look anything like the picture...*sigh* I guess that's why we have samples, right?

Iced Peach as a base. Aruba all over lid. Black Cherry in crease with Magic Wand on top. Sparkling Black in a thick cateye shape and teensy dots on my lower lashline. Finished off with a thick strip of Midnight Cowboy glitter below the dots.
I am such a ghost!
What I used:
-The She Space in Cabana Boy- icy green
-The She Space in Chasing Mystery- smoky metal green with layers of turquoise and electric lime
-Morgana Aqua Mauve- Muted mauve with silvery-aqua highlights
-Aromaleigh Tangleroot - Earthy lush green with cool dimensional shimmer sparkles
-Indelible Cream Shadow in Nude Frost
- EAM Refresh Eye Brightener
- UD 24/7 liner in Zero- black
- Aromaleigh Rocks Sonic Blush in femmefatale- clear vivid watermelon shade
- Fyrinnae lip lustre in Flavor of the Day- semi-sheer light peach-pink with gold shimmer
Nude Frost as base. Aqua Mauve as highlight. Cabana Boy on outer 2/3 of lid. Chasing Mystery on crease. Zero as liner with Tangleroot on top.

Aqua Mauve is such a great highlight color...Very unique! I don't have much else to say today! I've been a busy bee working on my giveaway prizes...There might be more than 5 winners that way that I'm going! I love when I get all creative like this! I've been sewing sequins all night and my fingers have been stabbed like 100 times...I need 10 thimbles haha!

Where is my Mind? Pixies Look!

Sunday, September 27, 2009
Look it's Bitey Bat in my hair!! I love me some Pixies!! Back in high school, my best friend Alex used to play Where is my Mind whenever I was sad...It was so funny, we told this kid that he wrote the song himself :P
.
One of my favorite things about Hi Fi is the music-related names! I think its really cute.
.
What I wore:
-Hi Fi shadow in Pixies- bright, iridescent purple! Lots of glitz...just like a vision of pixie dust!
-Indelible Cream Shadow in Nude Frost- pale champagne pearl frost
-Archetype Lolita Lollipop- sweet pale pink with silvery mint green undertone, transclucent with gold shimmer
-Aromaleigh Drama Queen liners in Drama Queen Teal- truly balanced gem of rare beauty. Not too green, not to blue, the perfect smoked teal with a hint of satin sheen sparked with flashes of bright teal shine and glitz
-Urban Decay liner in Stash- dark green/gold
-Earth Angel Mineral's Refresh Eye Brightener
-Allure by Jen Innocence blush- glowing pink color
-Revlon Matte in Pink Pout
. A little note about Archetype. I ordered these colors back in March, recieved them in May (or maybe June?). I emailed and emailed and never got a response. Because of this, I never even TRIED the colors I got because I was afraid I would like them. Damn it. I love them. I used Lolita's Lollipop as a base and it was all amazing. Damn.
Nude Frost as base. Lolita's Lollipop on lid and inner vee. Pixies on crease and sort of "orb" shaped around my eye. Stash as liner with Drama Queen Teal dry on top.
.
More Hi Fi love! Pixies is such a great color...I love how her shadows are all sort of satiny, even when there is a lot of glitter, there is NO FALLOUT!! Great application, I can't wait to get more!
.
I finally got a pic of my hair color! I melted the light on top with darker on bottom. It's great for someone like me with naturally light hair, so my roots will blend better.
.
How was everyone's weekend? Mine was pretty fun, I went out with my mom and stepdad to breakfast and to one of Rob's family member's birthday party. We've been hanging out with my sister in law a lot lately and it makes me so happy :D I don't have any sisters, but now I feel I have TWO! My brother's fiance and my sister in law are such great girls, and it helps that they are into a lot of the same things as me- crafting, makeup, hair! Yay!
