EotD Cocoa Mauve Day to Night

Saturday, August 29, 2009
What I used:
(Day)
-Aromaleigh Cocoa Mauve- a deep brownish mauve with flecks of green highlight
-Fyrinnae Finnegan's Wake- pale beige champagne colour with orange shimmer
-TSS I Bask in my own Light from Hope Quest Quad 1- sheer cocoa taupe pearl with a kiss of silk
-NYX Peach- uh, so NOT peach at all, more of a warm berry
(Night)
-Sleek Palette colors in black and pinkish/mauve-ish/gold
-2True Cheek & Lip Tint in Blush Pink
-Beat the Blues Iridescent Complexion Illuminator and Enhancer

Yay! More silly pictures! This was a quick day to night look. For the day, I used I Bask in my Own Light from lid to crease and added a pinch of Cocoa Mauve in the outer vee and as liner. Finnegan's Wake was my highlight color...which sounds weird (orange shimmer?) but ends up beautiful! I used NYX Peach, a very sadly neglected lipcolor. I wanted to step out of my "makeup comfort zone" and use a darker color on my lips. I ended up liking it, but I still felt sort of self concious about it.

To quickly change this into a night look, and to test out some of my new goodies, I used the black color from the Sleek palette as a liner. Then I took the pinky-mauve color and dabbed it into my inner vee. Last, I used my Blush Pink cheek and lip tint on (duh) my cheeks and lips! I am so in love with it...Such a sweet, pretty flush and a badass lipcolor in one! Even my husband said that he liked "whatever is on your face"!
Sorry about the crazy, lazy hair! Some days, a girl just needs a giant bun and some bows :o)

Plus, I'm a HUGE fan of Cake Wrecks and we saw these goodies at a local grocery store. OMG POOP ISLANDS!! It made us laugh so hard, I was so excited I had my camera with me! Too awesome!

UK Makeup thanks to Robert Smith's Mistress!

I won Robert Smith's Mistress Makeup Wonderland 50 Follower Giveaway! She wanted to make the prize a surprise and if you were from the UK, she would send US products or if you were from US, you would get UK products!

Since I'm in good ol' Cleveland, Ohio, Lyndsey sent me *A BUNCH* of fabulous UK products!!
-Sleek Makeup Divine Mineral Based Eyeshadow Palette in The Original
-Hot Looks Fast Dry Nail Polish in Juicy
-Hot Looks Fast Dry Nail Polish in Button Moon (cutest name ever!)
-2True Cheek & Lip Tint in Blush Pink
-Beat the Blues Iridescent Complexion Illuminator and Enhancer in Moonbeam
-Barry M Dazzle Dust in 92 Aqua Gold
-Barry M Limited Edition Dazzle Dust in 28 (a light cool toned purple with a teeny tiny hint of gold shimmer)
-Glam Crystals Dazzling Gel Liner in Pizazz
First up is the Sleek Palette. I've heard about these from other beauty blogs, but with you know, the INSANE shipping I would pay to get one, I wouldn't have bought it myself :P I am SOOO excited that Lyndsey included this in here! It really is up to the hype...creamy, shimmery, beautiful colors. I'm really in love with the blues and the 2nd from left on the bottom rosy-pink! These swatches aren't so great...I really wanted to play! I did the first three with a normal eyeshadow brush and then used the sponge applicator for the rest. They actually turned out better with the sponge! The purple looks much darker in person, but kept coming out light in the pictures! Next up were the two cheek colors. Oh my, when I first whipped out the 2True color (the left) I was thinking that I would never be caught dead with that on my cheeks. But after only a few seconds of blending (2nd to left) it turns into a beautiful flushed cool toned pink. I'm in love! The third is the illuminator unblended and the 4th is it blended. It's so pretty, a very lightly shimmery color almost that you can't see it, but it really brightens up my face. Then I started trying out the polishes! Wow, these really are fast dry and so far look awesome!! Juicy (on left) is a really pretty sparkly orange, which makes me super excited for Halloween (I know, I'm early, but I love it!). The second color, Button Moon (aw!) is a pale mint green. It's slightly more green than my beloved China Glaze For Audrey, but I almost like it better *runs from people throwing tomatoes*Here's the 2 Barry M Dazzle Dusts (which I've heard tons of great things about) and the Glam Crystals liner. Aqua Gold is amazing, a very pretty and unique color. It was hard to capture on film! The glitter liner is pretty neat too, I tried to make a thicker line so it came out kinda bad in the swatch. I'm excited to wear this on my eyes soon!
This shot's blurry but shows the gold sparkles yay! I'm super excited to try out all of my new UK stuff!
Thank you so much Lyndsey, this really meant a lot to me! Everyone should check out her blog- she does great, informative reviews and shares her *ahem* addiction!
...Now I'm kinda sad I don't live in the UK. This stuff is amazing (Barry M, why aren't you in the US yet?!)
Have you tried out UK products? Do you love them like I do??

QotD...The Friday Five!

Friday, August 28, 2009

Inspired by ectini I thought it would be fun to try out the Friday Five! So here we go:

1. How’s your tolerance for alcohol? Uh, I haven't drank since I was a wily teen (about 7 years or so)...but for my 21st, I ended up at a Mexican restaurant with my brother and his FIANCE (yay! they FINALLY got engaged...my brother had her ring for 8 months!) and I decided to get a margarita. It was not very good, but I drank that and a shot of tequila (the waiters idea) and I was totally fine. Huh. I thought that tolerance drops after awhile?

2. How's your tolerance for noisy neighbors? Horrible. I'm like an old widow (Family Guy reference!). I can't stand noise...especially during the day when I'm trying to get work done. See my bad day post- there's this guy who might live here (we haven't figured it out yet) that sits outside our window and talks about his, uh, sex life with dudes outside. I'm not homophobic but I don't want to hear about what a butt feels like *shudder*

3. How’s your tolerance for physical pain? Very low! I'm honest! Getting a tattoo or a piercing freakin hurts!

4. How’s your tolerance for intolerant people? Low again. People are actually pretty tolerant around me.

5. How’s your tolerance for bad music? High. I'm fine with most music. Usually if I don't like something, I'll dance to it anyways and it becomes fun!

Tell me your answers!! If you wanna do this on your blog, just put a linky in the comments! I hope you all had a great friday!!

EotD Smoky, dusty green!

What I used:
-Pure Luxe Peek-a-boo- candy pink base with a bright jewel pink interference
-TSS A Tale of Twins from Gemini collection- smoky iridescent green with layers of gold, lime, aqua and violet iridescent shimmer
-Aromaleigh "Satin Petals" Pure Eyes Frost in Basil- lusterized grey/green taupe with silvery sheen highlight
-Fyrinnae Anaconda- (not from website, this is my description)- deep, dark matte green with a hint of brown
-Fyrinnae Lip lustre in Very Berry Happy- (not from website, this is my description) - pale pink with a slight lavender tone
-Physician's Formula Mineral Blush in Rosy Glow

This actually took me awhile...It was one of those days where your makeup won't turn out right! I wanted to use green since I feel I've been neglecting it...Poor green! Plus, my eyes, skin and hair look awesome with it! This pics are with semi-wet hair so they aren't that great!Okay so I used Tale of Twins on the inner 2/3rds of my eyelid first. Then I put Basil (which is another neglected, but gorgeous color!) on the outer 1/3rd and crease. Next I used Peek-a-boo on my browbone and a teeny little bit in the inner vee. You can't see in the pics but it looks basically like there's nothing there until the light hits it and BAM pink shimmer!

Ugh, still swollen lips up there!! Anyhoo, this is where stuff started getting messed up. I wetlined Anaconda on the upper and lower lashlines, but it ended up sort of thick on top so I used A Tale of Twins to lighten it a bit. Then on my lower lashline I wanted it to be a bit smudgier so I took a little more Anaconda (using a lip brush) and gently smudged the line. I added Very Berry Happy (it matched the pink highlight!) and Rosy Glow.
Kissy Face!!!

QotD is not really a question...I need advice!

Thursday, August 27, 2009
I'm going to be quitting smoking soon. I have 3 packs and thats it. I'm doing this for monetary and health reasons, but I'm not quite sure I'm motivated enough. I'm really scared that I won't be able to do it. I love smoking. I know its horrible, but I do. I've been smoking for 8 years now (started very young) and have been on 1+ packs per day for about 4 or 5 years.

So I need some advice from you ex-smokers out there--about how your first few days were, if you got sick, how you deal with stress without smoking, if you took medicine, etc?

EotD Freya Cat Eyes

What I used:
-Fyrinnae Freya- wine/pink/burgandy/purple glowing shimmer on black
-TSS Hugs & Kisses- Not available for sale! This was one of two FREE colors from one of Heather's sales! (This is why it pays to be on the mailing list!). This is a shimmery silvery grey with a hint of lavender and rainbow twinkles *love*
-UD Afterglow blush in Quickie
-Fyrinnae Lip Lustre in Mega Hold- sheer light rosy beige with a satiny finish

Very super quick look today! This is actually what I wore to class (see the seatbelt in the pictures? This was taken in the parking lot of school!). Yep, when a girl wakes up early, she wears simple makeup!
I used Hugs & Kisses all over lid to browbone, concentrating most of the color on the lid and then blending up (so lazy). I wetlined Freya on top and bottom lashlines in a very thin cat eye shape. Basically I followed the curve of my upper lash line up! I patted some more Freya on the bottom (I like a smudgier liner there), added mascara, blush and lipcolor.
ALSO: I'm getting all set for my second contest!! This is going to be really fun, I'll be giving away a super awesome prize thats also for a great cause! It is going to be a makeup contest and will have something to do with sparkles (of course!)...Get ready, it will start sometime during the weekend!
MORE: I've become addicted to the Palladio rice papers I reviewed here. Seriously these are amazing, if you can get your paws on them buy as many as you can!

EotD Love Letter Lies

What I used:
-TSS Love Letter Lies- Washed out bronze sparkle with a layer of pink
-Aromaleigh Pure Hue in Moire- a fine/medium iridescent red/gold shimmer
-TSS Down and Dirty- softly twinkling silverized cocoa
-Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Silver City Pink

(I'm pretty sure I'm laying down in that picture...for some reason?)
I've been foiling colors like crazy lately! I'll be posting another couple EotDs later (hopefully!). I've had this Aromaleigh eyeliner sealant for like four or five months and never used it...Until last week and I'm in love!
I wanted a soft, romantic look. I don't think I really did anything that day...I packed Love Letter Lies on from lid to browbone as a base. I really love it, it's warm but not WOW ORANGE. I very gently patted Moire on top of Love Letter Lies on the lid, sort of mixing the two together to get a soft golden pink. Then I wetlined Down & Dirty on my top and lower lid and swiped some Zero on my lower waterline. Thats it!

QotD...Concealer?

Do you use concealer? Powder, cream? Undereye circles, blemishes? Any HG??So, here's my problem with concealer. I have freckles all over my face. If I use cream concealer, it "erases" my freckles on that one spot and it looks ridiculous! I really wish I could find something to cover up my dark circles, but I'm weary to spend money and try them out. Any recommendations on concealer that is sheer but hides the color of your skin? (That doesn't sound real!)

EotD Brightlining & my bad day :o(

Tuesday, August 25, 2009
Ugh, you ever have one of those days that just gets worse and worse as it goes on?? Today was my first day of classes this semester. I get stuck in traffic (a 15 minute drive turned into 60 mins). I park 1/2 mile away from my class. I'm wearing flip flops and step in goose poop. I can't find the classroom. I go to a different grocery store and can't find anything. A weird guy in overalls follows me around store while telling me how much he likes "my look" for 45 minutes. When leaving said grocery store, a lady in a minivan hits the cart, which falls over, with my eggs in it. Then she drives off. I got 4 hours of sleep, tried to nap and kids outside my apartment are yelling and throwing rocks at a window. I can't sleep. Try to read history text. Can't concentrate because gay guy that may or may not live in my building is sitting outside my window talking about butts in a X rated manner. Check my credit card statement. Oh a $39 late fee (one day late) that put me over my limit, so then I'm charged a $39 overdraft fee? Perfect. Call credit card company (who previously waived my husband's $39 overdraft fee). They tell me those fees are unwaivable. Clean guinea pigs cage. They fight and try to bite eachother. Allergies get all crazy. Out of Benedryl. Cry for ten minutes. Attempt to make dinner. Burn french fries. Burn hand. Cry more.

Can someone make me feel better? Please?

What I used:

-Aromaleigh Rocks! Sonic Eyes in iwantcandy

-Aromaleigh Pure Eyes Frost in Longing

-Aromaleigh Bete Noire in Bette

-Aromaleigh Summer of Love lipgloss

-Aromaleigh eyeliner sealant

-Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in Quickie

It was a total Aromaleigh day for some reason! I'll be doing reviews on the Bete Noire Collection, Summer of Love lipgloss & eyeliner sealant soon.

Matching eyeliner and bows = awesome! Red blotchy eyes from not sleeping...sorry!
The worst part? Look how excited I was this morning!!

Blog Sale!! Super deals!!

I've got my blog sale all up and running...the highest price is $20 for 18 double sided NYX liners! I think the prices are really reasonable, I kind of just want to get rid of the stuff I never use (and spread some lurve!). I was on a MAC kick for awhile and never use these products so they are all up there.

Please check it out if you get a chance! Thanks so much!!!

xxx

QotD...How do read your blogs?

Monday, August 24, 2009
This one's not beauty related but I was wondering about this since I always seem to miss posts!

How do you read your blogs? Google reader, blogger dashboard, Blog Lovin'??

I've been trying to just look at the newest updated 25 but I end up missing stuff all the time! I need some better ideas, girlies!

Mizz Worthy Villianess Contest: Poison Ivy

Growing up redhead sucks. There aren't a lot of women to look up to. I mean, I loved Ariel (Little Mermaid) but she's just not "cool", you know? Poison Ivy was Cool (with a capital C!). She was pretty and smart and kicked the good guys asses even though she was a girl, and a redhead at that. I knew I would never be blond (yeah, Catwoman, I'm talking about you!)

So, with my new bright red hair, of course I decided to do Poison for this contest! It didn't really come out the way I wanted so I'll probably do another. I suck at a "bitch face" though, so I put in some silly pictures too! I ended up putting Aromaleigh Pure Hue in Dew on my face...It looks cool in person but not so much in pictures!

Other Products I used:
Black Loreal Hip Gel
Aromaleigh Hot in the City in Coney Island
Aromaleigh L'Orchidee in Tangleroot
Rimmel Kohl liner in Jungle
Aromaleigh rocks! sonic lip tint in noreservations
Pure Luxe in Venom

...So basically I'm putting this up here because I did it, but I'll try again soon (ends Sept 5th)!

Check out the contest here

EotD Share Your Azalea

What I used:
-Aromaleigh Opulent Lustre in Azalea- heathered soft pink lilac, but vivid with metallic sheen
-TSS Share Your Secrets- sheer rose tree-bark brown
-TSS Jump Right In from Capricorn collection- steely cocoa shimmer with traces of navy
-NYX Strawberry Milk on top of Aromaleigh Aromatherapy Lip Balm

I wanted a light but defined look to go out for breakfast with my mom on Saturday. I've been experimented with wetlining shadows lately and Share Your Secrets is such a versatile color (I also used it to darken my brows!)

I used Azalea on my lids and inner vee, then blending the excess up to my browbone (it creates a nice highlight, but not "too much"). Then I wetlined Share Your Secrets on my upper and lower lashlines (and darkened my brows a bit for a more defined look). Lastly I took Jump Right In and applied to my crease. Took me all of 10 minutes for my whole face!

I finally used my NYX Strawberry Milk too. It's very pigmented cool light pink. It's very stark though so I put it over a lip balm to make it a bit less pale.

QotD...Eyeliner & Dupe List update

Sunday, August 23, 2009
Happy Sunday!! I just figured out that the dupe list I compiled (gigantic!) from the web was messed up. Here's the new link. If this one still doesn't work, please let me know! This is really helpful for poor folks like me to get dupes of MAC, amongst other things!
How do wear your eyeliner? Do you wear it everyday? On top, on bottom, wetlined, tightlined, cat eyed, colored, black or brown, none at all? Favorites?
I definitely wear some sort of liner everyday. I used to be an eyeliner junkie so I have a ton of colored ones. These days I tend to use either my UD 24/7 in Zero (black) or my Loreal Hip black gel liner and then put shadow on top of it. My eyes are small and need definition, especially in the outer corners! I love cat eyes, but it never seems to stay on me (even with my TFSI, sigh). I have pretty bad allergies this time of year and my liner tends to smoosh itself and look smudged by the end of the day. Today I tried wetlining a shadow (will post tomorrow) to see if it would stay better than my liner/shadow combo and it did!

Indelible Cream Eye Shadow...Prices may vary?

Clear River Cosmetics $16.50 + $9.40 shipping= $25.90
JW Cosmetics $8.99 + $3.20 shipping= $12.19
Aromaleigh $11.25 + $2.99 shipping = $14.24
Morgana Minerals $8.00 (sale price) + $5.00 shipping = $13.00
M.A.D. Minerals $8.99 + $5.50 shipping = $14.49
Beautiful Girl Minerals $7.50 (sale price) + $3.00 shipping = $10.50
Stardust Cosmetics $5.99 + $5.00 shipping = $10.99 (minimum $10.00 order)

So I'm sure by now that everyone's heard of Indelible Cream eyeshadows, right? I've been meaning to get my paws on the Green Tea color (it's so beautiful, the one shown on top). I put my researcher's hat on (since I've been seeing these everywhere) and tried to figure out where I could get the cheapest deal. All the shipping prices are for US. The one UK site I looked at, Ariane Poole charged $18.98 US!! I didn't even want to look at the shipping for that one!

You can see my results above...There were a lot more companies selling these for higher prices, but after the first, I stopped even looking at those! ...Can you say "holy crap" though? I can't believe the same shadow price can be doubled!

Have you tried the Indelible Cream Eyeshadows yet?? Let me know!!
