Sassy Don't Blink Look & Mini Review (more to come!)

Saturday, October 24, 2009
I'm finally getting around to testing Sassy Minerals. They sent me a bunch of foundation, blush and eyeshadows to try out. Sassy is a new company (opened in September 2009) that mixes their own products (of course, or else I wouldn't have tried them out!). After checking out their really professional, easy to navigate website, I was delighted to try them out! (Note- some of their products contain carmine or bismuth, but EACH color has its ingredients listed seperately, which I really like)

This is by no means my full review (you girls KNOW I like to write...and write...and test...and test!) but just a first impression sort of thing!

What I used-
-Sassy Minerals Eye Candy Shimmer in Don't Blink- ocean blue with green sparkles
-Sassy Minerals Eye Candy Shimmer in Break the Silence- smoky grey blue with intense blue and purple sparkles (And YES, it is intense!! I wanted to inhale it!)
-Sassy Minerals Eye Candy Shimmer in Gaining Ground- pale rosy beige with flashes of green and pink shimmer (*drool* So beautiful!)
-Collection 2000 Glam Metallics Coloured Liquid Liner in Punk- blue grey metallic
-Detrivore Eye Shadow Primer
-Gosh Velvet Touch lipstick in Darling- totally neutral concealer color lippie
-Sassy Minerals So Cheeky Shimmer Blush in First Kiss- coral peach with gold shimmer

I look like I'm crying. My hair is so awful and I've NEVER been very picky about it before. I look like a boy (seriously, this is the best picture I could find). Those bangs were supposead to be EYEBROW length. Uh does that look eyebrow length to you? My sister in law did this, so I have to pretend to be happy but inside I want to CRY. It's just not me....it's more stereotypical trucker girl. I don't feel pretty. I don't feel girly. Onto the makeup then? Okay, enough whining, Lisa Kate!! I used Punk to line bottom lid and then primed upper lid with Detrivore primer. Don't Blink in inner vee and inner 2/3rds of lid. Break the Silence on outer 1/3rd of lid and a wee bit into crease. Gaining Ground as highlight.

I really love all these colors. The duochromes and sparkles are really beautiful in person. The application is very smooth, although not in the "creamy" sense of Exposed or Orglamix. They are a bit more finely milled and the texture is close to The She Space or Archetype. I like both, so I'm not picky on this. Very little fallout to no fallout (even with the sparkles, which are sort of "large"). The foundation is also finely milled and not creamy. Nea from Fashioned in Finland did a great review and mentioned that the foundation was good for her dry skin. So, I (combo leaning towards oily) was a bit worried it wouldn't work for me, but it did! It went on really smooth and blended easily. I didn't need to blot for at least 8 hours (I used go about 3 with Everyday Minerals). The blush went on top of the foundation so nicely (I have trouble with blush going funny with EDM). No oxidation! Hurray! Overall, I'm pretty darn excited. I really liked the blush color, it was very light but buildable. I only put one layer on though, so its still pigmented (I hate the "buildable" blushes that you need to pile it on to show!!). Perfect for light skinned gals!

Okay thats it for now! Those are my first impressions of Sassy Minerals and so far I really like everything I tried. Look out for a full review next week or so!

How's your weekend going? Have you ever gotten a totally bad unfixable haircut? How did you deal? *cries a bit*

Ooo I had a hair cut like that once. The stupid stylist cut my fringe (bangs) when I had wet hair. Such an elementary mistake. It dried and shrunk, so she blow dried it straight, but it was as short as yours.

I ended up wearing it is a side parting and then using hairgrips to grip it under the longer hair so it stayed out of sight. I think it grows about half an inch a month, so it will hopefully be how you want it very quickly.

I always find me hair settles after a few washes of being cut. However I never went back to that hairdresser! And I think the last one I went to might have cut my layers a bit short, but we'll see.

It doesnt look bad, but thenyou knwo what you wanted and how you feel. Chin up! Maybe try a french braid across the front to keep it off your face? I did that with mine (wayyy bfore the Lauren Conrad braid!)

I like the blues on you! I'm so sorry that you're unhappy with your haircut.:( I had a really short haircut for a while, but one time I went back to get it trimmed and the girl made it look like a guy's haircut instead of a cute short girly haircut, I kept getting mistaken for a guy, it was awful! But the good thing about hair is that it always grows, so, use some of your adorable hair clips and headbands right now if you're not happy, and it'll be longer before you know it.;)

hugs,
Laura

I really love these colours on you Lisa Kate! Very pretty look.
I'm so sorry about your hair; hopefully it will grow back in no time and you'll be able to turn your frown upside down.

Aw no worries, bangs grow out fast! I know you're upset but I really don't think you look boyish at all! D:

I'm really loving this mineral company too, I agree their foundation is also good for combo/oily skin and I didn't have any oxidizing problems.

@Emma...Those are really great ideas, thank you!! My sister in law actually cut my hair and its just really frustrating because I have to watch my mouth because of it.

@Madeleine...Thanks so much honey! I don't see how anyone could think you are a boy though XD

@Naomi...Thanks, doll! I know it grows but SO shocking still!

@Kim...Aw thank you *blush*. I'm glad you are liking Sassy too! The colors are gorgeous!

So sorry you're not happy with your cut. :-( Wish I were closer and could give you an actual hug.

I had a truly HORRENDOUS cut one time. I asked the woman for a face frame and what did she do? She cut straight back, starting at about mid-ear level, about 5 inches in to my hair! So I ended up with a bi-level haircut with the front super short and the back still really long. No graduation, no layers, just one big chop on each side. It was AWFUL. But like everyone else has said, hair grows out, so it's not permanent.

It'll be back to what you want in no time! And hey, at least you'll have a really good "haircut I hate" story to tell!

You are too cute!! And I hope you are able to get a pup one day - she is like my little baby doll..

I still don't get why some apt's have a problem with small dogs, big ones I understand, but small ones shouldn't be a big deal?!

I haven't gotten a bad cut in a while but I def have gotten questionable color - I just go back and get it redone- my hair is waaay to important to not be done correctly!

The makeup looks great!

Oh, and believe me, I've had extremely terrible cuts. I've left a salon crying more than once. The most dramatic episode was when I had long hair. I had no bangs and went to the salon to get my ends trimmed. The hairdresser cut me a blunt "walking like an Egyptian" fringe without asking! When I confronted her about it, the only thing she said was "Oh, I thought you always had a fringe". Well I didn't have it before I got my hair cut! It was awful.

It'll grow. If you're super anxious about it, try using those cute bows of yours on the side, near the fringe. It should soften it up a bit until it grows.
