Evil Shades Cosmetics Review, Swatches & FotD!

Tuesday, October 6, 2009
Let me start out by saying that I am an "alternative" kind of gal. I like things a little different from the norm! Now, I'm not really a labeler...goth, emo, scene, punk, whatever! I started becoming more alt when I was probably about 12. My older brother had a girlfriend with bleach blond hair, red lips and plaid skirts and I adored her! (Now, my other brother reads this blog and YES I am talking about Mary and NO I don't want to be like her anymore:P) I had an unhealthy obsession with Courtney Love and early 90s bitch rock (but it was early 2000 and not yet cool to be like that!). Nowadays, yeah I've got the tattoos and piercings but most are of the cute, girly variety! I normally wear jeans and black tees with cute sparkly shoes and lots of jewelry. I guess I'm not really punk anymore, but I do adore the "look". There's been a lot of negative energy surrounding the world "goth" lately (with the MAC collection and all) but to each his own! I'm a liberal lol. I wear what I want and f*ck what other people think, and I love to see different looks! So. A little bit about me. Therefore, (ooh, English teacher!) when I saw the Evil Shades cosmetics, I was pretty drawn toward it!
.
Onto the swatches then? Of course!

These look sheerer than they did in real life. It was nighttime, what can I say? Plus, Moonlit sort of got cut off a bit.

My thoughts with color descriptions and review...

Devil's Bonfire- A deep, dark black with holographic sparkle...I did have sparks fallout with this, but I think using a mixing medium would take care of that!
Double Barrel- FAVORITE!! Evenly and smooth, perfect multicolor sparkles
Venom- deep and dark, inky black...one of the darkest blacks I own.
13th Hour- similar to Double Barrel but a tinge darker and browner
Abyss- very unique purple, sort of grey toned, with blue sparklies
Acolyte- very sheered out…looks a bit more grey than green
Banshee- BRIGHT lovely aqua
Sinister- another bright color! Minty cool green
Mysteria- pretty orchid color
Suffocation- chalkier than the rest, but still a nice lavender pink
Erinnye- burnt brownish red
Coffin- slightly lighter and pinker than Erinnye
Panic- amazingly bright coral....a favorite!
Silver bullet- very cool color…will look great with any others, a nice highlight, not too frosty!
Moonlit- sheer white highlight, turned a bit iridescent on my skin

Lips-
Venom- a sheer black gloss, could this be a cheap alternative to MAC? I loved using this over a bright pink color!
Suffocation- a very sheer lightly purple toned gloss, very smooth with nice application!

Overall?

Check out Evil Shades for the INKIEST, DARKEST BLACK around! Lasted very long....especially the black (I had to scrub it off!). Wanting to try out the latest black gloss MAC craze? Get a 3 gram pot for $2.25! I got the full sample set of 15 shadows for only $9.50! Also, as a little sidenote...not everything is vegan, Coffin and Zombie do contain Carmine, also the red gloss.

Now onto the look that made my husband say "Wow! Why don't you look like this more often?" (He fell in love with a punk chick!)

What I used:
-Evil Shades in Venom, Double Barrel, Silver Bullet and Panic
-Fyrinnae Glow blush in Charm- Bright, feminine pink with a slight lavender hue and touch of shimmer
-Evil Shades gloss in Venom
-Jane Cotton Candy lipstick- BRIGHT, hot pink

Double Barrel all over lid and in crease. Panic in inner vee. Venom as liner and in outer vee. Silver Bullet as highlight. Cotton Candy lipstick with Venom gloss over it (Oooh, I loved it!)

So, there's my Evil Shades review! I'm a cute goth, right? With my leopard print shirt and freckles haha I can't really be tough!

Have you tried Evil Shades yet? Are you into the black craze right now? I have to say, I didn't think I would like the black gloss but it is pretty fun!
